How It's Made is a 24-minute,
104-episode television series.

Each program comprises:

  • Four segments in which we discover how products in our everyday lives are made, such as: toothpicks, compact discs, cereal, fibre optics, potato chips, airplanes, etc.
  • The fourth item of each program in Series 1 to 4 is always linked to a "Historical Capsule".

The segments are narrated to inform viewers about the fabrication methods of various products. Narrations are accompanied by music specially composed for "How It's Made".

"How It's Made" is broadcast in English on the Discovery Channel and was hosted by Mark Tewksbury during its first season. The subsequent seasons have been narrated by Lynn Herzeg (series 2 to 4), June Wallack (series 5) and Lynne Adams (series 6 to present).
